WEBSITES WE LOVE
EVIDENCE BASED BIRTH
With so much information available online, it can be overwhelming to know where to turn. One trusted and easily accessible resource that we at Philomena Birth recommend is Evidence Based Birth (EBB).
Founded by Rebecca Dekker, a nurse with a PhD, EBB aims to make research-based practices more accessible in the birth field. After her own birth experience, Rebecca realized that evidence-based practices weren’t as common in childbirth as in other medical fields, so she created EBB to change that.
EBB simplifies complex research on common birth and pregnancy topics, offering signature articles on subjects like due dates, water birth, fetal monitoring, vitamin K, and eye ointment, as well as a podcast and blog.
SPINNING BABIES
Mary attended a Spinning Babies training in 2001, and all of our doulas are well-versed in its techniques.
Created by midwife Gail Tully, Spinning Babies uses movement and positioning to prepare the body for birth and support labor. The approach focuses on working with anatomy and physiology to help the baby release naturally, rather than being delivered through mechanical manipulation or force.
