We pride ourselves on our innovative model of care that combines education and doula support. Not only do our clients receive unlimited access to our many different childbirth classes, our doula services provide support from prenatal, throughout the labor experience, and into postpartum. We love what we do and are honored to share this journey with you!

What’s included in our Birth Doula package:

Prenatal Support

You’ll receive two private prenatal meetings with both of your doulas. You will also have unlimited support via email and phone throughout pregnancy.

Access to a Variety of Class Options

Our doula support includes unlimited access to all of our childbirth education classes on such topics: stages and phases of labor, infant feeding, postpartum planning, newborn care, medical and natural pain management, and more. Our goal is for you to be as educated and supported as possible before labor even begins. Learn More

Experienced Advocates

Our seasoned doulas can help you make informed medical decisions, guiding you on when to go to the hospital, making sure your partner feels confident as a support person, and making sure you feel empowered throughout the birthing process.

A Team Model of Care

Every expecting parent who gets support from Philomena Birth gets support from multiple experienced certified birth doulas. Your doula team will be at your prenatal meeting and will be in contact with you throughout your pregnancy. This model gives parents greater continuity of care and offers double the resources!

Labor Support

We will be at your labor to offer continuous hands-on support during the labor process.

Postpartum Visit

After your birth, we include a postpartum visit to your home to answer questions and offer support during this period of transition.

FAQs

  • Our calendar fills up quickly, we encourage mothers to reach out around the 12-20 week mark. That way you have lots of opportunities to take all of our childbirth education classes. However, if we have room in our calendar we will sign on families any time in their pregnancy.

  • What I like to say is your partner knows you more than I ever will and I know birth more than your partner ever will, and together we make this circle of support around you through birth. Your partner gets to just be the loving partner in the room and doesn't have to worry about knowing what the right thing to say or do is, we will take care of that! We see doula support as supporting the whole family unit; it's our goal that mother feels confident while giving birth and the partner feels confident in their support. 

  • While our main doula offering is birth doula support, please inquire if you are interested in exploring a postpartum doula option.

  • Philomena Birth is located in central New Jersey and supports moms throughout the tristate area. We most frequently support births at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson, CentraState, St.Peters, Ocean Medical Center, Capital Health, Tru Birth Center, Our Birth Center, The Birth Center of New Jersey, and of course home birth.

  • It’s prenatal meetings where we talk openly about all the hopes and fears a family may have around birth.

    It’s helping mothers and partners make birth plans that best represent them.

    It’s providing the most up-to-date evidence-based information so a mom can feel confident with her decisions.

    It’s connecting moms with local resources that can support them, such as chiropractors, acupuncture, postpartum doulas.

    It’s making sure my VBAC clients have all the extra physical, emotional, and informational support they may need.

    It’s listening to a women at 39 weeks pregnant cry because she’s exhausted and scared and needs someone to just acknowledge her experience.

    It’s continuous uninterrupted labor support from someone who understands and respects birth.
