Mary’s Origin Story

My name is Mary Sefchek, and I am the daughter of a midwife and the owner of Philomena Birth, a professional doula agency and childbirth education center. I am a DONA Certified Birth Doula, a Lamaze Childbirth Educator, a seasoned Lactation Counselor, and a proud wife and mom.

My mother Mary Philomena Kelly, who was not only a midwife but also a Lamaze Childbirth Educator and Lactation Consultant, and my business is named in her honor. She raised me not to fear birth. She raised me to believe that birth is manageable and doable and, in fact, could be enjoyable.

My goal is to empower you throughout pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum by offering support and education, while connecting you to your own intuition as a mother. I deeply love connecting with other women and their partners to offer a sense of calm and stability during a period of transition, because I understand how important it is to feel that you have somewhere to turn throughout ALL phases of motherhood, I have made it my life’s purpose to be able to offer support and care for pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, including breastfeeding support.
